Jay S. Herbst, M.D., F.A.A.D.

Dr. Herbst is the medical director of the South Florida Skin Center, and is a skilled Dermatologic Surgeon with over two decades of experience.

Dr. Herbst attended medical school at the University of Miami, and then completed two full residency training programs. He completed both Internal Medicine and Dermatology residencies at the University of Miami-affiliated hospitals and Mount Sinai Medical Center, and is Board-Certified in both specialties. He is recognized throughout the country as an outstanding academician, researcher, teacher, and practitioner. He has published over 40 medical journal articles and textbook chapters, and has lectured extensively at medical conferences.

In addition to his practice in Port Charlotte, Dr. Herbst is on voluntary faculty at the University Of Miami Department Of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, where he teaches Medical Students and Residents, oversees clinics, and gives lectures. He is involved in developing and expanding new approaches and treatments, and has a special interest in practical applications that directly benefit patients. In addition to his faculty work in Miami, his Port Charlotte office is an approved teaching clinic for the University of Miami Dermatology Residents.

Dr. Herbst is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is a member of the American Society for Mohs Surgery, Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, American Medical Association, and the Florida Medical Association.

Dr. Herbst and his wife, Donna, have been married for more than 40 years, have two children and four grandchildren. His daughter, Nicole, is the Administrator of the South Florida Skin Center, and his son, Alexander, works alongside him as a dermatologist and highly regarded surgeon. Dr. Herbst has been practicing traditional Japanese Karate for over 50 years and holds a 7th degree Black Belt. He has a karate school (Dojo) in Fort Myers, FL, where he teaches karate to both adults and children, and enjoys spending time in his garden growing tropical fruits and trees.


Alexander T. Herbst, M.D.

A graduate of the Florida State University College of Medicine, Alexander T. Herbst, M.D., completed his residency in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He has received several prestigious awards, including Intern of the Year, the Irving and Eva Mills Dermatological Surgery Certificate, and the George Ioannides Teaching Award. Dr. Alexander’s work has been featured in textbooks and published in academic journals. He holds Board Certifications from the American Board of Dermatology in both Dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

Dr. Alexander Herbst is actively engaged in educating future healthcare providers, both in the local community and through an ongoing partnership with the University of Miami and Jackson Health Systems.

Dr. Alexander’s wife, Torrie L. Reynolds-Herbst, M.D., is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician. They have two children and two Golden Retrievers. Dr. Alexander enjoys cooking, fishing, and motorsports.


Eva Clark, A.P.R.N.

Eva Clark is a Board-Certified Family Nurse practitioner with a multidisciplinary background and more than a decade of healthcare experience. While working in cardiac and acute care, Eva obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree, specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner Studies and graduating with honors. Eva’s experience in dermatology, aesthetics, cardiology, gynecology, and internal medicine is a testament to her passion for knowledge. Her understanding and motivation to provide patients with the best care possible makes Eva a highly regarded member of the South Florida Skin Center’s team of excellent providers.

A Florida native, Eva is an alumnus of the University of North Florida and South University, who enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling.
